Sumatera

Located in the Indonesia westernmost, Sumatera reveals a good example of landscape mosaic in Indonesia archipelago.  It represents the dense of tropical jungles, coned volcanoes, great lakes, mighty rivers and canons. This is home for Sumatran elephants, Sumatran tigers and rare flora such as smelly giant flower; Rafflesia Arnoldi. Back to around 7th century, Sumatera was the base of greatest and powerful maritime kingdom called Sriwijaya wherein its power cover throughout Southeastern Asia. Today Sumatera plays a very important role as the resources for Malay culture and literature nevertheless Sumatera is also home for other ethnic groups such as Aceh, Batak, Minangkabau, Basemah, Ogan Komering, Lampung, and Chinese.
